Meet Our Principal

Alton Bolden
Principal
I am a product of two parents who were administrators in the Broward County Public School System. I graduated from Dillard High School in 1995, ranking in the top 3% of my class. During my time there, I participated in football and baseball and was actively involved in JROTC, the National Honor Society, the McKnight Achievers, and the High Tech Computer Program.
With both academic and athletic scholarships, I attended Bethune-Cookman University and graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Varying Exceptionalities (K–12). After graduation, I returned home to follow in my parents' footsteps as an educator.
Over the course of 14 years with Broward County Public Schools, I earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and obtained certification in Childcare Development. I had the opportunity to teach at every level — Pre-K, Elementary, Middle, and High School. Across each school, one thing stood out: the noticeable absence of men, especially men of color, in education. Despite Black children representing more than 60% of public school populations, that representation is not reflected among educators — particularly in private schools.
This underrepresentation fueled my passion. I strongly believe that children need to see leaders who look like them. A nurturing, academically rigorous, and faith-based private school setting can be the spark many underprivileged students need.
As a father, I deeply understand the value of positive male role models. I’ve mentored, coached, and tutored countless young people — many of whom have gone on to lead successful, impactful lives.
Helping launch Piney Grove Academy in 2013 was one of the greatest decisions of my life. Watching young boys grow into confident young men and go off to college has been an incredible reward. In 2020, we expanded our reach by welcoming girls into the Academy — a step that has allowed us to impact even more lives.
My prayer is that each student we nurture will someday pour into the life of another young person searching for love, direction, and purpose.
"Put God first in your life, and pray often as a family — and blessings will surely follow."
“Make time for your children. It’s easier to fix a lost child than a broken man or woman.”
